Description
by her mother, Mrs. Heywood
Little Nony was born on August 21, 1868, and she fell asleep in Jesus on May 1, 1879, aged 10 years and 8 months. Her story is a remarkable account of one child’s faith and love to Jesus in the midst of extreme pain and physical illness. It will bring you to tears and will move your heart to love and trust Jesus in your own suffering.
Nony was a godly little girl who was raised to love and trust the Savior from an early age. Her mother wrote, “From the time she could speak, her thoughts seemed raised from nature up to nature’s God, and as she looked at the flowers with their bright and varied tints, she would often say, ‘Pretty, pretty flowers! Good, kind God, to make the flowers. Baby does love God!'”
When Nony was 8 years old, she fell from a height of 12 feet onto a stone pavement. At first everyone thought she was fine.
But after a few days, a strange pain began in her right thigh. It increased to point where she was screaming in pain, and it eventually confined her to bed, where she suffered extreme pain for the rest of her short life.
But her radiant testimony, her love of evangelism, her outward focus, and her confident trust in the Lord continued unabated she died.
This memoir of her life, written by her mother, is an unforgettable book. The story is short and simply written, but the message will stay with you long after you have wiped away your tears.
